Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Designer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for completing assigned projects on time and accurately, performing design-drafting assignments using AutoCAD 2D and 3D drawing techniques, and preparing layout, design, and 3D modeling of complex piping systems. The role also requires conducting field work, generating accurate isometric drawings, and actively participating in P&ID review meetings.
ResponsibilitiesComplete assigned projects on-time and accurately; work independently, develop scope and procedures with input from Team Leaders and managers.Perform design-drafting assignments using AutoCAD 2D and 3D drawing techniques.Draft plans and construction drawings considering the operation and layout of piping systems.Conduct field work, including walk-downs locating tie-ins, dimensioned field sketches.Build equipment models based on vendor/specification documents.Create accurate Isometric drawings, develop accurate Bill of Material documents.Prepare layout, design, and 3D modeling of complex piping systems based on P&IDs.Generate complex structural models, coordinate and troubleshoot structural models with structural engineers.Interpret piping stress analysis reports and collaborate with stress engineers to establish the most economical and safe design.Manage and communicate with 3rd Party designers to assure quality and efficient work product.Mentor and train other designers and drafters.Generate line lists and tie-in list. Actively participate in P&ID review meetings and drive model review discussions with the technical project team, 3rd party designers, and customers.Utilize scanned point cloud files to produce accurate piping models.Follow and participate in the development of engineering standards, format, and procedures to create, update, revise, and modify drawings; communicate requirements of standards and procedures to others.Utilize and create sketches, notes, and other input material to generate drawings.Report changes and mistakes to lead, identify changes and manage the revision process effectively.Learn and adapt quickly to assigned project tasks, proceeding independently to initiate those tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.Responsible for the quality of work produced and follow methods of continuous improvement. Make recommendations for specific improvement opportunities.Incorporate safety, operability, maintainability, and constructability in design work.Review and check work prepared by others and provide constructive feedback.Generate man-hour estimates associated with the design services scope and continuously monitor progress to man-hours and schedule and report to the project team.Actively participate in project meetings and design/model reviews. Provide accurate feedback to the project team regarding design progress.Essential SkillsAssociate degree or Technical degree requiredPrevious piping design experience required3D modeling experience requiredProficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD (current version or within last 3 versions) 2D and 3DAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor or Technical degree preferredCadworks experience preferredAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsFamiliarity with AISC and ASTM specifications preferredKnowledge of construction and fabrication techniques preferredProficiency in Cadworks and ReCap preferredCapable of using tape measure, square, level, and various layout toolsWork Environment
The work environment involves using advanced technologies and equipment such as AutoCAD and 3D modeling software. The role may require field work, including walk-downs and creating dimensioned field sketches. The candidate will work independently and as part of a team, participating in project meetings and model reviews. The environment encourages continuous improvement and professional development.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
