Job Description
As a Mechanical Designer, you will create innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. You will work closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to ensure design specifications are met. Your role includes applying Computer Aided Design (Creo 7) methodologies, theories, and techniques, and reviewing various completed engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards. You will also provide expert technical consultation, develop innovative concepts, and prepare design layouts, schematics, or sketches to meet system and integration requirements.
ResponsibilitiesCreate innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs.Work closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications.Ensure designs are free of layout process defects.Assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations.Apply Computer Aided Design (Creo 7) methodologies, theories, and techniques.Review completed engineering documents for compliance with standards and accuracy.Provide expert technical consultation to the division and customer community.Develop concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for existing and new product lines.Prepare design layouts, schematics, or sketches to meet system and integration requirements.Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent standards.Check completed layouts, drawings, and documentation for clarity, completeness, and conformance to standards.Evaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and viability of design.Perform and document technical calculations.Identify assembly interference, design errors, and recommend improvements.Interface with internal and external customers to solve technical problems.Essential SkillsProficiency in Pro-E, Creo, and parametric design.Experience in mechanical design and sheet metal.Minimum of an associate degree in CAD Technology, Drafting and Design.At least 3+ years using CAD modeling tools to create complex solid models with CREO.3+ years of concept and preliminary design experience.Experience in large structures and large assembly design and modeling, preferably from Military / DOD space.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work effectively as a team player.Work Environment
You will be working in an office setting with other designers, drafters, and engineers. This role requires cross-functional communication within various areas of the organization.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
