Mechanical Drafter - Solidworks
CONTRACT POSITION
Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented SolidWorks Mechanical Drafter to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks. This role is critical in supporting the design and manufacturing processes by ensuring that all technical drawings are accurate, complete, and align with project specifications.Responsibilities:Drafting and Design: Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and models of components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks. Ensure that all drawings meet project requirements and industry standards.Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and designers to translate conceptual designs into detailed technical drawings. Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and design improvements.Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including assembly instructions, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and revision histories. Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and organized.Drawing Revisions: Update and revise existing drawings as needed to reflect design changes, modifications, or improvements. Maintain accurate records of all revisions and changes.Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough checks of drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards and specifications. Identify and correct any errors or inconsistencies.Standards Compliance: Ensure that all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. Adhere to best practices in mechanical drafting and design.Support Manufacturing: Provide support to the manufacturing team by supplying accurate and clear drawings. Assist in resolving any issues that arise during the manufacturing process related to design or documentation.File Management: Organize and manage all CAD files, ensuring that they are properly labeled, stored, and accessible to team members. Follow company protocols for file naming and version control.Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and quality of the drafting process. Stay current with the latest updates and features in SolidWorks and related software.Technical Support: Provide technical support to engineers, designers, and other team members regarding CAD models, drawings, and drafting techniques.Qualifications:Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting using SolidWorks. Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred.Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and assembly creation.Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation.Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other team members.Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is a plus.Basic knowledge of PDM (Product Data Management) systems is an advantage.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
