The Precision Control Actuation System department is seeking a mechanical design engineer to lead the development, build, and verification of control actuation systems. This individual will be responsible for leading teams of cross discipline engineers through the development life cycle, with the responsibility of providing technical oversight of the effort. Technical oversight spans across mechanical, electrical, controls, firmware, and systems engineering discipline. In addition to leading teams, the individual will also be expected to be able to provide individual contributions as staffing needs vary. Knowledge across mechanical mechanism design, systems engineering, and hardware test is highly valued in this role.
This will be onsite at our Huntsville, AL location.
What You Will Do
You will be expected to work autonomously, have expert or mastery level knowledge within the control mechanism development domain, and exercise strategic vision to influence the functional and organizational strategies of the PCAS organization beyond assigned program work.Provide ample opportunities for hands-on hardware work, with a dedicated lab space at our Huntsville facility. PCAS mechanical engineers are exposed to a variety of lab activities including engineering builds, hardware integration, hardware tuning, and hardware verification.Provide a strong technical learning environment with a dedicated control system technology pyramid comprised of engineering fellows. PCAS mechanical engineers are provided the opportunity for direct access to these subject matter experts, fostering accelerated technical growth.Qualifications You Must Have:
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math or related science degreeA minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, or mechanism design, or flight control systems. Or 3 years related experience with an advance degree.The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience developing flight control systems for aerospace applicationsExperience in mechanical mechanism designAdvanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or PhysicsBasic proficiency with model development and data analysis in MATLAB/SimulinkExperience working with and integrating hardware.Basic knowledge of DOORS, CAMEO, and/or other requirements management toolsSystems engineering design and developmentExperience with dSPACE Real-time test systemsProven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower-level work packages and tasksAbility to estimate project / tasks level of effortAbility to cross collaborate with geographically distributed teamsExperience and certifications in Earned Value Project ManagementAbility to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiencesProficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)What We Offer

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
