As a Design Engineer on GS, you will:
• Design mechanical, structural, and thermal components and subsystems to meet customer requirements and align with LM Space standard methodologies
• Develop, review, release, and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, and technical analyses to support product development, build, and testing activities
• Use CAD software to create 3D models and engineering drawings with GD&T, integrating components and subsystems into a comprehensive, master CAD model
• Present design data to spacecraft design/engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and formal design reviews
• Serve as the responsible engineer for hardware procurement, conduct product acceptance reviews, and ensure product compliance with requirements
• Act quickly to ensure timely disposition of internal/external Product Change Requests and facilitate resolution
• Manage multiple program-critical tasks efficiently, ensuring smooth product flow through the design, manufacturing, testing, and build cycles
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers to support their professional growth

This position is contract award dependent, and will not begin until February, 2025 at the earliest.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education
• Experience with flight hardware design, analysis, integration, and test
• Proficient in mechanical drafting standards and techniques, as well as CAD modeling and drafting tools (Creo or equivalent)
• US Citizenship and the desire and ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
• Experience leading design efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activities
• Experience with thermal hardware development (e.g., MLI blankets, heat pipes)
• Experience with design, production, and procurement tools (e.g., EPDM, SAP)
• Experience with responsible engineer responsibilities (CPE, CPE delegate, or equivalent)
• Experience in conducting Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), Material Review Boards (MRBs), and Failure Review Boards (FRBs)
• Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers
• Willingness to mentor and develop junior engineers
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
• Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $100,400 - $192,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
