Job Summary  

This position is responsible to provide effective customer service and achieve customer satisfaction by delivering services in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.

Primary Duties

Define and execute capital projects for facility repair and upgrades to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. Prepare maintenance, repair, construction technical drawings, specifications of mechanical/electrical systems, facility diagrams, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

Provide maintenance engineering expertise for all facilities and act as Subject Matter Expert for engineering and equipment support. Develop and support programs that will establish a world-class maintenance organization.

Direct or coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.

Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.

Lead maintenance CMMS utilization and PM programs that standardize the work order system.

Additional Responsibilities

Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.

Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications.

Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures.

Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Manage design changes once bid drawings are issued and ensure compliance with the change control procedures.

Develop and review equipment and material specifications and bid documents.

Evaluate bid proposals and prepare recommendation for the award. Review invoices, approve of technical submittals, monitor delivery schedules, and manage all technical changes.

Resolve all QA/QC open items. Submit, review and approval all vendor drawings and data. Comply with record drawing storage requirements. Assure that equipment and material meet the specification requirements.

Develop construction bid documents, including construction sequence and coordinate the construction outages. Provide field staff with technical input on design changes required during construction.

Develop construction/mechanical drawings applying professional drafting techniques using AutoCAD and/or REVIT following approved layer/file standards provided.

Implement and comply with Configuration Management Policy. Provide technical assistance to the construction staff and maintenance contractors on clarification of design. Investigate and determine the operational impact on unit operation for any equipment outage.

Implement Project Management's Construction Inspection/Monitoring program. Confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products.

Work with Management and Government Customers to determine specific facility and production needs in the areas of Engineering and Maintenance support.

Develop and maintain standardized practices and policies, as applicable. Maintain a standardized maintenance manual that meets ISO standards.

Perform periodic audits of maintenance activities. Establish relevant technical standards, when necessary (e.g., equipment, maintenance, and safety standards), which can be applied in all regions where the corporation operates.

Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering, or similar degree from accredited university or 15 years large experience operating and maintaining large commercial facility technical electrical, power generation, cooling, mechanical systems required.

Minimum of 3 years in project management required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI government security clearance with polygraph is required.   

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to develop complex engineering specs and perform intricate studies.

Aware of changes and advancements in the industry and develop industry-wide expertise.

Understand how NGA interacts with outside organizations, including other utilities and regulatory agencies, and with its customers. Familiar with NGA budgets, costs, rate structures, and policies.

Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Strong negotiating skills.

Strong problem-solving skills focused on the results of data rather than on the data analysis procedures. In some cases, these problems may be associated with the ServiceSource generation and transmission of electricity safely, at the lowest cost, or in developing expanded capabilities and services for customer.

Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos, labels, and numbers.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Excellent customer service skills, verbal and written skills and ability to accept and follow directions.

Basic typing skills; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines on a daily basis.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM, and Builder.
