Responsibilities You will have knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their associated impacts as related to mechanical engineering design. You will knowledge and experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, mechanical engineering design and analysis software and other applicable DoD computer systems and software used by the Command. You will have the ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts. You will have the ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies. You will have knowledge of budgeting, planning and project management techniques, including the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams. You will have knowledge of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance, and use of personal protective equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Performing mechanical engineering expertise for designs on major projects for customers; 2) Provides technical advice and guidance to client staff engineers on mechanical aspects of projects; and 3) Establishing criteria for projects. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Completion of a course of studies from an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on design experience, is required. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
