Summary: The Mechanical Engineer will execute engineering projects to significantly improve the efficiency of our golf ball manufacturing process and to provide capability for manufacturing new and improved products. Utilize internal and external resources to maximize personal productivity.

Responsibilities:

Conceptualize and design manufacturing equipment for new products and processes.  Develop equipment specifications and work with vendors to support machine design/build efforts.  Oversee fabrication of prototype devices to support new process equipment developments. Supply engineering support on projects for improving manufacturing equipment.  Investigate and apply best available technology and hire technical experts as needed to help formulate a solution.  Present recommendations to management and implement improvements. Participate in project teams with R & D and plant support personnel to identify the requirements for process development and new equipment.  Perform manufacturing trials to support justification of projects. Work with project team to support implementation of new manufacturing equipment inclusive of full documentation package to release to production. Participate in project cost analysis, communicate cost, and schedule status updates to project team and key stakeholders. Prepare invention records and maintain invention notebooks to support the patent application process for golf ball products and manufacturing systems.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical engineering.  Must have been involved in a hands on environment with significant equipment troubleshooting background. Ability to work in manufacturing environments, including being able to interact with equipment.  May be required to crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, and climb to perform duties.  This assignment may require domestic and/or international travel, as well as potentially working off-shift or weekends.  Proficient in Solidworks and experience with AutoCAD. Familiarity with PDM Works a plus.  Mechanical aptitude with interest in industrial automation and/or robotics.  Strong communication skills and ability to convey understanding of complex information.  Good interpersonal behaviors and detail orientation.  Fundamental understanding of design for manufacturing and machining methods.
