Job Description: Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes within our Shelbyville, KY automotive plant. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and effective production of high-quality automotive components.

Responsibilities:

Process Development: Design and develop manufacturing processes for new and existing automotive components. Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new manufacturing projects. Equipment Design: Design and specify manufacturing equipment, including dies, tooling, and machinery. Collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure the procurement of high-quality and reliable equipment. Oversee the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to manufacturing processes and equipment. Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring problems. Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control procedures for manufacturing processes. Monitor and improve product quality through data analysis and process optimization. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement lean manufacturing principles. Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to drive innovation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry. Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, tooling, and equipment. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Experience with process optimization and lean manufacturing methodologies. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with roll forming simulation software. Knowledge of automation and robotics in manufacturing. Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
