Your Opportunity

The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to work independently at the project site providing third- party engineering services for multiple building renovations at West Point, NY. To ensure success in this role, you will apply your knowledge of engineering fundamentals and safety regulations to ensure the soundness of building structures. Top candidates will be of unimpeachable integrity, detail-oriented, and assertive and able to obtain access to a military installation. This is a 1-year position with likely continuation until 2028.

Your Key Responsibilities Review of all Capital Construction Projects Budgets and Construction Mechanical and Commissioning designs and all other related documents, i.e., Submittals, Costs, Schedules, etc. Guide contractors in the administration of a newly established Energy Management Control System (BAS) for 20K square feet building with 28MW cooling capacity. Contribute to the attainment of long-term minimization of operational costs as a result of effective management of a energy conservation system for a current client's contract. Attain full compliance of the drawings of vendors for IBC and UFC with relevant regulatory requirements, including the Federal Building Code. Align project outcomes with scope and stakeholders’ requirements as a result of evaluating and approving proposed changes to designs and other technical aspects. Lead the verification and review of a variety of vendor’s technical drawings, inclusive of process control, HVAC, structural, mechanical, P&IDs, fire safety, mechanical equipment energy performance audits and ISOs. Ensure accurate calculations and determination of system capacities, system configurations, and structural support capabilities. Streamline project implementation processes as a result of liaising with relevant stakeholder to assess and implement necessary changes to project scope of work. Liaise with the US Corp of Engineers and DPW Director, Garrison Commander, and O&M Chief to ensure that projects do not interfere with the Mission. Implement recommended quality and technical standards in construction and continuous oversite of daily operational issues. Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to DPW PM’s/Junior Engineers/Construction Teams. Organize and facilitate weekly Construction Project meetings and monthly Master Planning Group meetings. Your Capabilities and Credentials Technical Proficiency Preferred: Tridium Niagara N4, Convero, SQL, Microsoft Access, Fourth shift, BAAN, Configurator and FARR, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, Microsoft Project, Micro station, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, DOE2, NFPA, MICA, ASME B31 Pressure Piping Standards, EM385, UFC, and B149 Gas Codes. Professional Knowledge Preferred: ASHRAE, NFPA, AEE, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Natural Gas and Propane, Power Plant Operating Engineer – ASOPE, Universal EPA / CFC, Refrigerant Handling. Repeated success maximizing outcomes of construction projects, through strong people leadership and development strategies, including coaching of internal and external teams comprising of General Contractors, Subcontractors, and other tradesmen. Experience attaining operational compliance with OH&S regulatory requirements and technical standards, inclusive of ASHRAE, MICA, ASME, AEE, USMA, B31, NFPA, IBC, and UFC. Adept at managing projects by optimizing budgeting, engineering analysis, technical designing, and commissioning processes and operations. Expert presenter and negotiator; able to forge strong relationships with strategic partners and build consensus across multiple organizational levels. Lead a team of internal staff and General Contractors for ongoing Multi-Billion Dollar Renovation Upgrades and New Buildings Construction Projects. Valid driver's license with good driving record Position requires a pre-employment Drug screen Education and Experience BS Mechanical Engineering Minimum 10 years of experience Professional Development Preferred: PE, CEM, PMP, LEED, WHMIS, Fall Arrest, Arc Flash Protection, Lockout -Tag out. Ability to obtain IAW NISPOM security clearance
