Duty Location: Fresno, California Responsibilities Serves as a journey level engineer to provide professional services to plan, design, and implement operations and maintenance activities on mechanical systems associated with water control facilities and hydroelectric power plants. In addition, designs and reviews related documentation for the preparation of construction and procurement specifications. Engineering features involve mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment installed at dams, hydroelectric powerplants, pumping plants, irrigation control facilities and systems, fish conveyance systems, maintenance buildings, shops, offices, etc. Plans and organizes operations and maintenance work. Coordinates with Reclamation personnel and water districts to update and revise the Standard Operating Procedures used by operating personnel. Provides troubleshooting and engineering support on equipment failures and malfunctions of electrical and mechanical equipment in the Area Office Reviews designs and plan layouts for installations, modifications and/or replacements involving plant mechanical systems. Participates in periodic field inspections, maintenance reviews and special examinations of the Region's power and pumping facilities. Develops performance data on turbine and pump units, irrigation valves, industrial control systems, and other mechanical systems.
