Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, analyze, document, and support the testing of precision opto-mechanical components and products, including optical assemblies, IR & visible sights, and electronics packaging mainly for military applications. As a member of a project team, you will use computer-aided engineering and other design/analysis software to develop new or improved products, ensuring they meet performance requirements.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop new or improved opto-mechanical products using computer-aided engineering and other design/analysis software.Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet performance requirements.Investigate solutions to product or process problems.Perform structural and thermal modeling and analysis of complex opto-mechanical systems.Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.Collaborate with Systems Engineering and other Design Engineering disciplines on product development.Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.Participate in and conduct peer reviews and formal design reviews.Create and release engineering drawings and documents using PLM systems.Participate in preparation of proposals.Support testing of products.Essential Skills5 years of experience in mechanical design.3D CAD experience.Proficiency in GD&T (tight tolerances) – true position of 14 or less.Experience in structural analysis, thermal analysis, and FEA analysis.Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.7+ years of experience in mechanical design.Experience with Creo.Additional Skills & QualificationsMSME is desired.Experience with IR technology and products.Opto-mechanical design experience.Experience with stabilized platform design.Electronics packaging design experience.Ability to lead and direct the activities of less experienced engineers.Experience with structural FEA, thermal FEA, and CFD FEA.Work Environment

You will work on a team with 6-10 people, performing layout architecture and preliminary CAD work, sizing parts and bearings, and interfacing with outside vendors.
