**Mechanical Design Engineer** **Franklin, IL** **3 month contract to hire** **$45/HR** Summary: This role focuses on working with OEM parts and merchandising display projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in SolidWorks PDM, evaluating Bills of Materials (BOMs), and providing innovative, cost-effective manufacturing solutions. This position also serves as a consultant, offering recommendations to optimize manufacturability and improve overall project outcomes. Key Responsibilities: + Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for OEM parts and merchandising displays. + Utilize SolidWorks PDM extensively for project design and documentation. + Evaluate and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and efficiency in project execution. + Act as a consultant to internal and external stakeholders, providing solutions to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. + Collaborate with manufacturing teams to create detailed welding notes, instructions, and other essential requirements. + Conduct cost-benefit analyses to evaluate project or part feasibility and make informed recommendations. + Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project completion and alignment with company goals. Required Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. + Proficiency in SolidWorks PDM and related design software. + Strong understanding of BOM management and manufacturing processes. + Experience with welding techniques, including creating and interpreting welding instructions. + Ability to analyze and provide cost-effective solutions for part and project designs. + Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on consulting and advising stakeholders.
