Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Chicago studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education and Federal market sectors. Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer works in a highly collaborative environment on a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing building mechanical systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to design the projects from concept up to construction and delivery to the Client with support from a Senior Engineer.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments. Identifies discrepancies in results.Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findingsStays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the Mechanical disciplineOrganizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of mechanical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopesMechanical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancyWriting reports for internal and external purposes based on findingsStays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the Mechanical disciplineQualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus two (2) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.Preferred Qualifications:
Passed fundamentals of Engineering Exam (EIT/FE)Comfortable working in a high energy environment with frequent swift deadlines.Experience in the construction industry.Proficient in the use of drafting software including Revit and AutoCAD Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.Additional InformationThis will be a hybrid position; up to 2 days work from homeAbout AECOM
