Mechanical Engineer
Description Actalent Services is seeking a Mechanical Design engineer for our client that is a secondary packaging OEM that focuses mostly on designing Cartoners and case packer machines for dry food applications. Our client partners with large food manufacturers to produce custom OEM packaging machinery. Summary of responsibilities: - Design engineering systems for the automation of industrial tasks. (Packaging) - Create mechanical design documents for parts, assemblies, or finished products - Maintain technical project files in PDM System. - Implement and test design solutions - Create mechanical 3D models and tolerance analyses to simulate mechatronic design concepts. - Conduct studies to determine the feasibility, costs, or performance benefits of new mechatronic equipment. - Publish engineering reports documenting design details or qualification test results. - Research, select, or apply sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position sensing, pressure sensing, or electronic communication. - Identify and select materials appropriate for mechatronic system designs. - Apply mechatronic or automated solutions to the transfer of materials, components, or finished goods. - Design advanced precision equipment for accurate or controlled applications. - Upgrade the design of existing devices by adding mechatronic elements. - Analyze existing development or manufacturing procedures and suggest improvements. - Provide consultation or training on topics such as mechatronics or automated control. - Oversee the work of contractors in accordance with project requirements. Work Activities: - Designing, Laying Out, and Specifying Technical Devices, Parts, and Equipment - Getting Information - Interacting With Computers - Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Thinking Creatively - Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge - Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships - Communicating with Persons Outside Organization Additional Skills & Qualifications Day to Day: + 60% Redesign: Changing Existing Drawings in Solidworks + 10%: Conceptual Design. + 30% Hands on with machinery, debugging, and working with assembly/builder team as questions come up. Will not be designing machinery from concept to completion until later in their tenure. Working on highly customized automated packaging machinery based on customer specifications. Will be working with the project engineer who is running the project from start to finish and keeps the project on track and ensures proper materials. Participates with design reviews with S r. engineering team, and works within the PDM and internal ERP for tracking. Degree is not needed, but the candidate must have come from an OEM or retrofitter of automated machinery.
