Job Description
As a Manufacturing and Design Engineer, you will provide essential expertise in manufacturing and design to support customer requirements and drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, yield, and throughput of manufacturing operations. Your role involves leading projects to introduce new products, processes, and materials into production, thereby enhancing cost competitiveness and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to boost operational efficiency, cut costs, and seamlessly implement engineering solutions.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop manufacturing methods and automated systems to optimize processes, including material handling, assembly, and packaging.Create, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, and design intents. Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks) to develop 3D models and system layouts.Develop maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods, and organize routine servicing schedules.Oversee the installation, commissioning, and integration of automation into manufacturing operations.Identify opportunities for process automation and lead initiatives to implement automated solutions that enhance operational efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve product quality.Analyze system performance data and recommend improvements to boost throughput, minimize downtime, and increase system reliability.Collaborate with management, engineering, and other staff to align manufacturing capabilities with production schedules and facilitate production processes.Work with planning and design staff to ensure efficient production methods through optimal product design and tooling.Engage with vendors to define product specifications, arrange for equipment, material, or part procurement, and evaluate products based on specifications and quality standards.Develop mechanical designs and drafts for products, production jigs, and machinery.Maintain up-to-date process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and technical specifications.Prepare reports on process performance, cost savings, and project progress for management review.Conduct cost studies to determine the most cost-effective manufacturing methods and implement changes accordingly.Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potentials.Provide engineering support to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in the production department.Offer technical guidance, training, and support to team members and operators during the design, installation, and operation of new equipment, automation systems, and processes.Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth implementation of new manufacturing methods and process changes.Support company policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and good manufacturing practices.Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor, commensurate with the role.Follow the Group Code of Conduct and Group Compliance Manual.Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.5 to 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment working with Salvagnini equipment.Experience in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).5 to 7 years of experience in automation, robotics, and lean manufacturing.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in design, mechanical engineering, and machine design.Hands-on experience with Salvagnini equipment.Strong troubleshooting and new product development skills.Experience in sheet metal and project management.Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment. You will be leading engineering projects in commissioning new manufacturing operations for North America.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $115000.00
