**Job Description**
Teledyne Controls is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in El Segundo. The role involves preparing mechanical packaging concepts and detailed designs for high-performance, compact electronics assemblies used in aircraft systems. These assemblies include avionics with embedded cell radios, compact processors, power supplies, and operator interfaces.
Responsibilities include developing 3D CAD models, preparing assembly and detail drawings, and tracking these drawings through the release process. Additionally, the engineer will assemble and evaluate prototype designs, identifying opportunities to optimize cost and reliability.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.
+ Prepare concepts and detailed designs for moderate-to-complex high-performance, compact electronics assemblies.
+ Design assemblies including precision sheet metal parts, machined parts, printed circuit boards, and high- density electrical connections.
+ Work with teams in solving complex electronic packaging problems.
+ Requires understanding of drafting standards and part dimensioning practices.
+ Requires understanding of parts tolerances and fabrication process limitations.
+ Support manufacturing to investigate and develop corrective actions for discrepant hardware.
+ Interface with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Repair for the purpose of investigating and resolving assembly problems, drawing errors, and obsolescence issues.
+ Design, build, and assemble to test processes to fabricate and assemble packaging and cable harness designs.
+ Requires understanding of EMI shielding techniques and grounding features to meet performance requirements.
+ Design thermal and structural solutions for electronic systems.
+ Mechanical hardware assembly/disassembly experience; working knowledge of proper use of common and specialized hand tools, torque application, and measurement equipment.
+ Fabricate, assemble and evaluate designs using 3D printing equipment
+ Review/check drawings and documentation including part, assemblies, control drawings, procedures, etc.
+ Apply drawing check skills and assist others in resolving drawing configuration conflicts.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering is plus.
+ Minimum 5 years in mechanical engineering design of high-density electronic packaging designs for applications in avionics, consumer electronics, or similar products.
+ Experience with 3D CAD Solidworks
+ Solid understanding of FEA Analysis, ANSYS Workbench experience preferred. Experience with Thermal Analysis and Random Vibration Analysis is plus.
+ Ability to apply high level principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and good knowledge of other related disciplines

**Salary Range:**
$89,100.00-$120,230.000
