Job Description
Lead the conceptual and detailed mechanical design to meet commercial and military avionics design standards. You will be working on both New Product Introduction (NPI) as well as Sustaining initiatives. Conduct failure analyses (DFMEA) and implement enhancements to proactively identify potential failure modes and implement effective design solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to our dynamic mechanical engineering team. Contribute to new business proposals with compelling renderings, simulation models, and accurate work estimates. Play a key role in developing and improving engineering processes and procedures. Work closely with various engineering teams to achieve overarching project goals.

The site focuses on highly regulated ITAR business, with approximately 150 people. The role requires working onsite 5 days a week. Currently, the work is in the testing phase, which involves being out on the floor, but it could shift to office design work depending on project needs. The work environment includes advanced power conversion, control equipment, and electrical distribution components and systems for the aerospace and defense industry. The recent technology developments include software-based command and control systems, active power factor correction front ends, and data bus communication including CAN and ARINC 429.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00
Educational Excellence: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's preferred.
• Extensive Experience: At least 10 years of design experience in electro-mechanical packaging.
• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in SolidWorks 3D, CAD, and PDM environments or equivalent tools.
Experience with SolidWorks simulation tools (Flow, Thermal, Vibration, etc.).
• Electronics Expertise: Hands-on experience with printed circuit board and circuit card assemblies.
• Industry Savvy: Proven experience designing to defense and aerospace industry standards like DO-160,
MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-704.
• Manufacturing Collaboration: A strong track record of transitioning product designs to manufacturing
through close collaboration.
• Excellent Communicator: Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to Travel: Ready to visit customer sites for design review meetings (up to 10% travel).
