Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design one of our major products - the electrical slip ring, which transmits continuous power and electrical signals from a stationary to a rotating structure. You will review customer specifications, analyze proposed conceptual designs, and collaborate closely with customers and engineers to manage custom projects from initial inquiry to final delivery.
ResponsibilitiesTranslate customer orders into engineering designs, starting with a model and creating detailed individual drawings for assembly.Create 3D models and detailed drawings of components and assemblies using SolidWorks, considering costs, functionality, and manufacturability.Design assembly and test fixtures to facilitate the manufacturing process of the company's products.Create Bill of Materials for ongoing slip ring products.Periodically update engineering data within the company’s internal ERP system.Investigate issues raised during assembly, work out solutions, and modify designs to eliminate problems and optimize the assembly process for future builds.Perform other related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and drafting procedures.Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Internet.High attention to detail and results-oriented.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with mechanical assemblies and project management.Electrotechnical experience.Work Environment
This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and work on specialized products like slip rings used in various applications requiring electrical signals from stationary to rotating assemblies. About 75% of the work involves military base contracting, collaborating with major clients such as Lockheed, Raytheon, and the Airforce. Our company is not a high-production facility; an engineer typically works on 4-5 projects per year, depending on complexity. The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.08
