We are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer (2) for our facility in Kanata, Ontario.
Location: On-site.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of equipment and processes for producing medical isotopes and devices. This role ensures reliable, high-quality manufacturing solutions that meet strict regulatory and operational standards. The successful candidate will drive process improvements, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry best practices, leveraging problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration in a fast-growing, specialized field.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technical professionals, fostering innovation and knowledge sharing. Reporting to the Development Engineering Manager, you’ll receive guidance and mentorship to tackle complex challenges and drive projects to success. Your role includes coordinating with vendors and contractors to ensure equipment meets specifications and timelines, as well as presenting technical work to internal stakeholders.
WORK PERFORMED:
Under general technical guidance, performs the following activities as appropriate to the assigned task or project:
Assist in troubleshooting, process optimization, and continuous improvements across manufacturing operations in Kanata. Independently conduct and modify current practices and procedures to reflect business needs. Plan and execute activities to ensure project goals are met. Conduct commissioning of new processes, products, equipment, and facilities. Participate in design changes, including change control, design reviews, implementation and testing, qualification, and validations. Collaborate with team members to develop innovative solutions for technical challenges. Provide technical advice and support to ensure successful project execution. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and validation protocols. Train and mentor junior team members or operators in process or equipment use, as required. Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production or quality issues. Liaise with external vendors and contractors to ensure equipment meets design specifications and timelines.
KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Process, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Eligibility to obtain P.Eng license in the future. 2+ years of specifically related experience. Experience with Current Good Manufacturing Practices, including IQ/OQ/PQ, Validation Development, and CAPA resolution. Working knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, facility equipment, and tool design, including PLCs and related computer systems, would be an asset. Experience with SolidWorks is an asset. Familiarity with ISO 13485 and/or FDA regulatory requirements is highly desirable. Proficiency in creating and interpreting P&ID diagrams. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to deliver results and meet deadlines. Excellent organizational and workload prioritizing skills.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $96,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
