What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineer on the Hardware Solutions Team in CTCT, you will make an essential contribution to hardware product design and manufacturing within a multi-disciplined team responsible for construction machine guidance system components. You'll craft and evaluate the mechanical aspects of systems and devices through the complete design cycle, from requirements definition, design & test, to introducing and sustaining the product in manufacture. 

You will frequently oversee design undertaken by partner organisations & sometimes design devices from the ground up. Alongside design, you will undertake peer review, data-pack preparation, analysis, prototype creation, and testing. You will work closely with marketing, other engineering functions, program management, manufacturing, and OEM teams to release high-quality products for earthmoving, paving, and specialty machine industries.

This will involve:

The conversion of market requirements into engineering specifications and technical solutions 

Conceptualisation and best practice detailing of new mechanical designs

Supporting existing products

Create documentation, part, and assembly data-packs

Support assembly procedure documentation and the creation of Bills of Materials

Perform hand calculations and FEA including fatigue and vibration analysis and bolted joint analysis

Working with suppliers and contract manufacturers

Identify product risk through DFMEA or similar processes and take responsibility for risk mitigation within your functional area

Writing test verification & validation plans, carrying out testing, and creation of test reports.

What skills & experience you should bring

As well as possessing excellent attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, a strong commitment to designing and building in quality, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as a proven team player, you should bring the following:

BS or MS in Mechanical engineering or another related engineering discipline or equivalent experience

Demonstrated industry experience as a mechanical engineer

Familiarity with developing products from concept through to production

Familiarity with high-volume components designed for use in demanding environments such as off-highway vehicles or automotive

Have experience with die-castings, injection mouldings & waterproof electronics enclosures

Experienced in supplier selection and liaison

Proficiency with 3D CAD (PTC Creo Parametric advantageous)

Process-driven mindset focused on quality.
