Job DescriptionThis position contributes to the team responsible for the Power Cycle Mechanical design of New Nuclear Power Plants. The Mechanical Engineer will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to advance new plant detailed design and successfully deliver NPP projects.
ResponsibilitiesLead and conduct design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for the nuclear Main Turbine and Auxiliary Systems.Assist in the review of vendor supplier documentation associated with the Main Turbine and Auxiliary Systems.Prepare and review system design deliverables including system design specifications, piping and instrument diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, hydraulic resistance calculations, equipment sizing, and Technical Specifications for the BWRX-300 Main Turbine and Auxiliary System.Manage project work schedules and priorities.Provide on-time, quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.Validate deviations and scope changes to ensure adherence to original design specifications and requirements, mitigating risk.Help with document review, communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding levels of risk, and serve as the turbine expert.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering10 years of experience supporting the design and installation of turbines (e.g., Mitsubishi or Siemens)Understanding of the critical parts of a turbine and proposed changesAbility to communicate across multiple groups both internal and externalExperience in system design, specification review, and design reviewAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or University.Minimum of 8 years of experience in performing design, fabrication, and installation of steam turbines and supporting systems in nuclear or combined cycle plants.Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant Systems Design.Expert knowledge of relevant design codes and requirements.Work Environment
Remote working environment with possible travel to Wilmington, though limited and not required. Travel mainly involves attending technical meetings and reviews.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.
