Mechanical Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description Coordinates mechanical and utility design and construction of factories used in the production of wet and dry pet food, and pet treats. This position requires technical expertise in project scope development and management of design consultants and contractors to ensure that standards and expectations are met from inception to installation of a project. Responsibilities + Possess a broad knowledge of mechanical utility systems, technology, equipment, piping, and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) generation and review in-field. + Engage with the corporate engineering team to understand project team structure, scopes, design, and coordination reviews. + Provide Mechanical Engineering review and management of onsite mechanical/utility construction for capital projects. + Oversee field observations and equipment and utility commissioning by third-party services during construction to ensure compliance with design and standards. + Review and approve contractor means and methods for construction at operational factories. + Review and evaluate feasibility and cost estimates by contractors for existing and new factory sites and buildings. + Be onsite at the factory location for the duration of the project with some travel for training and design coordination. Essential Skills + Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. + Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical/utility design including HVACR, liquid handling systems (tanks, pumps, piping), heat transfer systems, steam systems, chill water systems, natural gas systems, and industrial waste systems. + Experience generating, reviewing, and field tracing P&ID's. + Field experience reviewing construction progress, starting up mechanical equipment, commissioning systems, and coordinating fieldwork with teammates. + Experience working in a multi-discipline team to deliver industrial capital projects. + Experience reviewing 2D drawings and 3D models. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Licensed Professional Engineer, highly recommended. + Experience with projects requiring hygienic food and industrial manufacturing is preferred. + Proficiency in process flow development, P&ID development, equipment sizing, and specifications. + Experience with equipment submittal review and construction document review and markup. + Ability to multi-task across several projects at a time. + Excellent troubleshooting skills. + Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical subject matter. + Ability to collaborate with and contribute to cross-functional teams. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, STAAD, Revit, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, BIM 360, and Procore. Work Environment This position will be based in a manufacturing plant creating pet food. It requires being onsite at the factory location for the duration of the project, with some travel for training and design coordination. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
