We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Surrey or Calgary. The Mechanical Engineer will work on the development of detailed project designs and systems by providing expertise on mechanical equipment design and analysis, and materials selection. You will have the opportunity to create and enhance approaches to mechanical engineering through the development of departmental procedures and specifications. Pride in producing and reviewing accurate, high-quality, and practical designs, as well as delivering solutions to support project teams in all matters related to mechanical equipment and materials selection, will be a vital part of this diverse and interesting position.
ResponsibilitiesProvide overall mechanical engineering support to the project team from conceptual design through to detailed engineering, construction support, and project commissioning and start-up.Prepare conceptual designs and assist in the development of preliminary studies by providing expertise on mechanical equipment and materials selection.Provide design and analysis services of static equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and related components in accordance with industry standards and codes.Ensure all designs and analyses comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.Develop and manage the master equipment list.Develop mechanical equipment data sheets and specifications.Create Request for Quotation packages and perform technical bid evaluations.Act as primary technical contact for vendor supplied equipment, including client support and vendor management.Review design documents and drawings for vendor-supplied equipment to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and project specifications.Participate in project planning through the development of project schedules and person-hour forecasts/budgets.Assist in the development of overall project cost estimates.Provide mechanical input into multidisciplinary engineering documents such as the project Design Basis Memorandum and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.Develop departmental procedures and assist in continuous improvement activities.May be involved in HAZOP studies.Support construction RFIs related to major equipment.Ability to travel to and work at site as needed.Essential Skills7-10 years of mechanical engineering experience within an EPCM Familiarity with centrifugal pumps, vibration analyses, rotating/static equipment, API 610 systems.Experience integrating/installation of centrifugal pumps and other rotating equipment.Experience working with procurement to determine equipment specifications, selection, and sourcing from vendors.Client-facing experience, dealing with counterparts on the client side and communications regarding technical work.Open to US travel/work as required.P.Eng certification.Proficiency in software such as Compress, AutoCAD, and BlueBeam.Additional Skills & QualificationsUS PE certification an assetExperience with LNG/hydrogen.Experience with offshore or marine projects.Experience with jetty loading arms.Experience working as an owner's engineer.Work Environment
You will be working on-site in the Surrey or Calgary office, with a preference for Surrey. The hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am-5pm, with an unpaid lunch break. We offer a hybrid work schedule, where you can work from home on Fridays. Note that you must have your own laptop or desktop for remote work. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
