Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing large and complex product subsystems, controlling engineering changes, and preparing required documentation. This role involves working in cross-functional teams focused on mechanical, electrical, and software design. The Mechanical Engineer will develop proof-of-principle hardware, prepare project timelines, document designs, analyze experimental results, and troubleshoot products in manufacturing.
ResponsibilitiesDesign large and complex product subsystems independently and alongside engineers.Control engineering changes and prepare required documentation for Agile release.Work in cross-functional teams focused on mechanical, electrical, and software design.Develop proof-of-principle hardware to verify concepts prior to prototyping.Prepare project timelines, task lists, and hardware costing for assigned projects.Document designs through applicable dimensioning and tolerancing.Analyze experimental results and draw relevant conclusions based on data findings.Draft notebook studies, verification, and validation reports.Troubleshoot products in manufacturing as needed.Model and draft designs exclusively in SolidWorks within a PDM system.Assist engineers to support and guide junior engineers.Communicate regularly with other department personnel providing important information on engineering activities.Attend and participate in group meetings, task force groups, etc., as needed.Plan, coordinate, and prepare reports, surveys, research information, and special requests made by management.Evaluate field failure reports to determine causes of problems and probability of failures.Assist in implementing methods and procedures for document control and security.Provide engineering support to Instrument Service and Manufacturing.Essential SkillsBA or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree or above is preferred.Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in electromechanical system development of complex assemblies.Track record of design work on electro-mechanical systems.Strong ability to model, draft, and detail in SolidWorks.Hands-on experience with measurement tools, prototyping machines, testing setups, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and protocol preparation and reports.Engineering and associated scientific knowledge.Ability to use a Personal Computer and software for word processing, spreadsheet, etc.Interpersonal skills with the ability to get along well with diverse personalities. Must be tactful, mature, and flexible.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with new product development, sub-assembly, and medical devices.Familiarity with FDA and ISO 13485 regulations.Work Environment
This position requires the employee to frequently sit. Occasionally, the employee will need to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. The role may also require lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. The ability to read and analyze hard written copy and information on a computer screen is necessary. The candidate must be able to successfully respond to multiple work pressures, communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups, and use a phone. The role also requires the ability to listen, understand, interpret, and solve problems. The candidate must have the ability to travel to other locations within and outside of the local region and must have a valid Driver's License and access to a car.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
