Your role and responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer provides support for a complete range of NEMA motors. Design and Specification of Mechanical Components. Complete Drawings and Manufacturing Bill Of Material. Apply Engineering principles and judgment in the motor design process. Engage in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Product Development and R&D Engineering Function. Design motors which are successful in unique Applications and meet Customer expectations. Partner with Inside Sales for Customer Quotes and requirements. The work model for the role is: ONSITE. #LI-Onsite.This role is contributing to the Motion NEMA Motors division in Athens or Flower Branch GA.You will be mainly accountable for: - Create motor designs, drawings, models, and Bills Of Material required to manufacture motors for Product Development Custom Orders. Complete Orders per Customer, Application, and Industry requirements. - Consult with Inside Sales and District Offices to clarify Customer requirements and ensure motor designs created meet application requirements and Customer expectations. - Serve as a Technical Resource for the Inside Sales Team. Provide existing design alternatives and facilitate resolution of Custom Order issues. - Ensure motor designs comply with all Regulatory and Certification requirements. - Ensures the projects/operations value chain portfolio follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that the projects are closed as per the contract specifications.Our team dynamicsYou will join a high-performing team, where you will be able to thrive.

Qualifications for the role

BS in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years relevant work experience supporting customer design and inside sales departments. Experience with RFQs, RFPs, quoting and design work per customer specs. Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software. Ability to function in an environment with timelines related to Customer commitments.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with SAP ERP.
