**Description**
**SAIC** has an opening for an organized and motivated **Mechanical Engineer** whom is looking for an opportunity to grow with our company as we continue to expand our **Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Propulsion Test Facility (NUWC - PTF)** support team in **Newport, R** I. Work will be performed on site at NUWC - PTF. The individual will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians working to bring projects from the early concept and design phase all the way through fabrication, system integration, and acceptance testing.
**Job Duties:**
+ Provides direct support to the Test Director.
+ Provides support for facility integration and testing operations.
+ Responsible for leading presentation and creating the necessary slide packages associated with Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs).
+ Exemplifies leadership throughout the entire testing process from customer concept to post-test analysis; projects will broadly include the design and fabrication of components and interfaces for electrical and mechanical systems for both test items and facility infrastructure.
+ Supports the development of Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Test Plans, Integration Plans, Instrumentation Plans, Test Reports and Procedures.
+ Interfaces with customer to define key test requirements.
+ Establishes all supporting test documentation.
+ Performs test for unit builds.
**Qualifications**
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and five (5) or more years of experience; Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and three (3) or more years of experience.
+ Must be able to obtain clearance up to the level of SECRET; Active SECRET (or above) clearance is preferred.
+ Proficiency in CAD software for the development of 3D models and 2D drawings, preferably SolidWorks.
+ Experience working with and altering templates for 2D drawing creation.
+ Experience developing bills of material (BOMs) for complex assemblies to incorporate on 2D drawings and to use as a costing and tracking tool during projects.
+ Experience creating fabrication drawings, including the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Knowledge of best design practices to prevent issues during the fabrication phase of the project.
+ Must be highly motivated and have excellent problem solving skills.
+ Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities.
+ Must be able to work in a customer facing team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion.
+ Proficiency in technical writing for all forms of test documentation.
+ Extensive knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems is preferred.
+ Experience with data acquisition systems is preferred.
