The Design Engineer for the Sustainment team at PacSci EMC (Hollister, CA) will play a crucial role in supporting and developing small ordnance devices, including start cartridges, linear ordnance lines, and other pyrotechnic components. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them in practical scenarios. The engineer will conduct detailed analyses and simulations to ensure device performance and reliability under various conditions, which is essential for the success of the products developed. In addition to design responsibilities, the engineer will create and maintain detailed design documentation, including CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications. Testing and validation of designs through prototyping and experimental procedures will also be a key part of the role. Collaboration with manufacturing teams is necessary to optimize designs for production and ensure a seamless transition from development to manufacturing. The engineer will conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements to enhance product reliability and performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. The role also involves participating in project planning, scheduling, and reporting to ensure timely and successful project completion. The engineer will act as the technical point of contact for engineering-related efforts in new product development projects, which includes design creation, documentation, and manufacturing and test support. This position requires resolving issues related to production launch for new products and actively supporting product manufacturing efforts, including mechanical prototyping and engagement with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to address production manufacturing processes and testing setups. Furthermore, the engineer will support activities to generate required technical inputs for proposals and participate in Sale Order Kick Off (SOKO) meetings, ensuring a thorough review of design engineering requirements. Active involvement in Sales Order Close Out (SOCO) meetings is also expected, where the engineer will document technical lessons learned and drive improvements for future contracts. The role requires participation in problem-solving team activities related to production anomalies and customer complaints, as well as providing support for continuous improvement activities.
