Job Description
** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer - Design to fill a 12 month assignment in the Spring City, TN area.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of mechanical engineering work for part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope
- Perform work that involves conventional mechanical engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of and practices of related specialties
- As a fully competent mechanical engineer in all conventional experience aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments, plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Devise new approaches to problems encountered
- Provide procurement and field engineering including walkdowns, modifications/maintenance, and testing support
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a college degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering degrees from an accredited curriculum PLUS appropriate continuing education (Fire protection engineering degree is recommended)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Membership in professional and technical societies
- For fire protection employees: must be member grade SFPE and hold all designated restrictions
- Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access and S-3 and S-4 medical qualifications when applicable
- Ability and willingness to assume on-call rotational assignments which may include 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week availability
- Willingness and physical ability to work rotating shifts and maximum overtime permitted by corporate procedures during peak periods
