Mechanical Engineer Designer
Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development Job Description We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Development team. This role involves a mix of design, analysis, and collaboration. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing mechanical solutions using 3D CAD software, conducting comprehensive analyses of new designs, and performing hands-on evaluations and testing of prototypes. You will also provide direction for the fabrication of mock-up and rapid prototype models, communicate with cross-functional team members, and participate in project design meetings. Responsibilities + Conceptualize and design mechanical solutions using 3D CAD software like SolidWorks. + Ensure designs meet product functions and manufacturing requirements. + Conduct comprehensive analyses of new design solutions and validate 3D CAD simulation models. + Perform hands-on evaluations and testing of prototype components and systems. + Provide direction to shop associates for the fabrication of mock-up and rapid prototype models. + Communicate design concepts, changes, and testing results with cross-functional team members and stakeholders. + Participate in project design meetings and serve as the primary contact with international contract manufacturers. + Establish best practices for design for manufacturing and assembly. + Assist in defining engineering test plans and support the creation of engineering documentation. Essential Skills + Proficiency in Mechanical Design and CAD, including creating 3D CAD models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks. + Understanding of various manufacturing processes and materials such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, die casting, and machining. + Experience leading a small, cross-functional team from concept to production. + Effective communication and collaboration skills across functional groups. + Strong analytical and testing skills, including validation of 3D CAD simulation models and hands-on evaluation and testing of prototype components and systems. + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. + Experience with fundamental engineering practices and understanding of GD&T. + Proficiency in prototyping components and testing products using basic hand tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is required. + Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly. Work Environment You will primarily work in an office setting with significant time spent on the testing floor. You will collaborate closely with the Sustaining Engineering and Advanced Development teams.
