The Opportunity:
CACI is looking for a Junior to Mid level Mechanical or Marine Engineer to provide support to multiple US Navy/MSC programs. You will design and validate designs for existing and to-be-built systems on various naval and marine vessels including aircraft carriers, combatants, amphibious, auxiliary, and specialized mission ships from ship concept, design, construction, life cycle, and fleet support. This will include compressed air, lubricating and fuel oil(s), hydraulics, cooling and heating water, and HVAC systems that are necessary to maintain a ships functionality and mission. You will provide technical support on various engineering projects alone and as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC). Position can be worked from the Washington Navy Yard area or hybrid arrangement.


Responsibilities:

Development of fluid models of ship auxiliary systems in PIPE-FLO and industry recognized software to validate systems designs, properly size pipes, pumps and other equipment and accurately predict functionality and performance.Development of marine auxiliary and piping systems, review and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation and development of ship system specifications.Review and analysis of mechanical and electrical propulsion systems, and auxiliary/ piping systems for technical data packages developed to support design and construction of Naval and other vessels.Provide engineering services support to including Spec writing, design, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, marine drawing, selected record drawing (SRD) updates, ship checks and other technical work document preparation in accordance with drawing standards and good marine design practice.Writes test procedures, compiles and evaluates design and test data and prepares technical specifications.Responsible for researching, planning, designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating auxiliary systems, mechanical and electro-mechanical components, controls, engines, machines and mechanical or thermal hydraulic systems.



Qualifications:

Required: 

Minimum of 2 - 6 years’ experience in piping system modeling and performance analytic software such as PIPE-FLO, PIPE-NET, AFT Fathom or equivalent.Pipe/fluid dynamic modeling software experienceExperience in evaluating machinery piping systems and creating supporting calculations to validate design and troubleshoot performance issuesAbility to take results of modeled piping systems and explain results in a manner that can be understood by engineers and other stake holdersAbility to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team environment.Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standardsExperience with Military Sealift Command (MSC) marine engineering practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power PointBS Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering degree or equivalent experienceAutoCAD experience: Ability to draft detailed multi-view drawings of systems, machinery spaces, systems, assemblies, and products.Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$66,100 - $135,600
