**The Opportunity**
This **Mechanical Engineer II** position works out of our **Sylmar, CA** location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.
The Mechanical Engineering Manager will manage the planning and completion of mechanical engineering projects, including the design and development of new product.
**What You’ll Work On**
+ Working under general supervision, designs hardware to support features that are included as part of new product definitions, meet broad design goals, establish requirements and specification
+ Use empirical, numerical and experimental analysis to analyze designs.
+ Create product drawings and/or models and project planning, this also Involves in test method and model development
+ Identify and mitigate project/sub-assembly risks
+ Initiate and/or support invention disclosuresParticipate in cross-functional teams and external vendors to obtain prototype parts and to understand their capabilities and limitations
+ Support pre-clinical and clinical testing of devices
+ Support design reviews, Assists on-time completion of Design Control Deliverables and physician visits.
+ Drives design quality, reliability, and compliance to standards and regulations
+ Design and evaluates mechanical and electromechanical product design and ability to identify potential design issues and drive technical decisions.
+ Prepares risk management files and report for product releases, and has responsibility for active participation in risk management activities from product conception through commercialization.Prepare technical reports, analysis, recommendations and presentations reflecting the status and results of projects in progress on a regular basis
+ Supports design test and inspection method development
+ Gain a detailed understanding of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.).Gain a detailed understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of Abbott, FDA and ISO regulations, manage project within these requirements
+ Gain a detailed understanding of overall schedule, manage time and task within schedule
+ Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
+ Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
**Required Qualifications**
+ BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical field (Biomedical)
+ Minumum of 2 years related work experince.
+ Solidworks/Creo or other CAD experience
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience with a wide variety of manufacturing processes and DFM preferred.
+ Experience designing and testing relevant medical devices preferred.Experience with a wide variety of manufacturing processes and DFM preferred.Ability to trouble shoot technical issues related to product design.
+ Experience with statistical techniques (e.g., DOE, SPC)
+ Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
+ Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
+ Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
+ Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
+ Ability to travel approximately 15%, including internationally.

The base pay for this position is $65,900.00 – $131,900.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
