Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilledMechanical Engineer IIIto join theData Center Power & Control Divisionin Reno, NV.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electro-mechanical designs and product industrialization; and possess extensive experience in designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems that integrate electrical components, ensuring high efficiency and reliability in data center environments, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. A key responsibility will include validating electro-mechanical vendors through rigorous thermal and electrical testing to ensure compliance with performance and quality standards.
What Will You Do?
+ Lead the design of electro-mechanical high voltage power distribution product, while maintaining manufacturability and high product quality.
+ Manage multiple design projects concurrently ensuring design criteria, cost objectives, and schedules are met.
+ Perform sustaining engineering functions, create sheet metal fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, cable/wire drawings, specification, and source control drawings using a 3D modeling software package.
+ Collaborate with multiple internal Legrand entities and vendors to deliver cost-effective turn-key solutions.
+ Create and modify Bills of Materials (BOMs) through an Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
+ Review drawings and BOMs for accuracy and completeness, ensuring engineering drafting standards are met.
+ Perform first article validation and testing; inclusive of thermal analysis, Hipot, and SELV.
+ Assist with developing document methods for process improvement and control.
+ Perform backup role to System Administrator for Inventor and Vault.
+ Provide regular status updates to management through detailed timelines.
+ Promote positive company user relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting employees when appropriate.
+ Display original thinking and creativity; meet challenges with resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work; develop innovative approaches and ideas.
+ Display willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain the reasoning for decisions; include appropriate people in the decision-making process (specifically Department Managers); make timely decisions.

Qualifications
Required Skills
Education:
+ Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University with emphasis in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or comparable experience or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
+ Minimum of four years of experience in mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
+ Previous experience designing electro-mechanical products with emphasis on sheet metal, harnessing, wiring diagrams, and BOM development preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
+ Proficiency in Autodesk software including Inventor, Vault, and AutoCAD.
+ Certification in Project Management or Six Sigma is a plus.
+ Strong knowledge of drafting standards for electrical and mechanical assemblies.
+ Experience with writing ECOs using PLM software.
+ Experience with performing Hipot, SELV, and thermal testing.
+ Ability to coordinate engineering projects and demonstrate engineering technical expertise to a team.
+ Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
+ Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
+ Project management skills including planning, organizing, meeting facilitation, and coordinating tasks.
+ Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Access).
