As a Loads and Dynamics Engineer with NSS, you will:

• Perform detailed dynamics design and analysis on spacecraft components and the entire spacecraft system

• Provide test support for component-level and system-level dynamic tests (e.g., random vibration, acoustics, shock, modal)

• Perform coupled loads analysis with our launch vehicle partners to verify spacecraft launch survivability

• Provide technical memos and recommendations to support peer and customer reviews

• Present design and analysis data to spacecraft design/engineering team, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and formal design reviews

• Provide review, interpretation, flow-down, and implementation of program requirements

• Mentor junior engineers
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education

• Extensive experience with loads and dynamics analysis methods and processes (e.g., modes, mode shapes, modal coupling, rigid and flexible body models, load paths, stress/strain, classical hand calculations)

• Experience with finite element numerical solution tools (NX & NX Nastran, or equivalent)

• Experience leading analysis efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activities

• Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance; desire and ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
• A Master's Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) is strongly preferred for this position
• Experience with analysis and test of dynamic environments (e.g., acoustics, random vibration, shock, modal, jitter)

• Experience with rigid and flexible body simulation tools (e.g., Adams)

• Experience with Matlab, Simulink, and other similar engineering level computer programming tools

• Experience with coupled loads analysis methodology, including Craig-Bampton approach for reducing the size of complex finite element models

• Experience with test engineering, instrumentation, data collection, and/or test reports

• Ability to work in a collaborative and highly-integrated team environment

• Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and quickly and efficiently drive to closure

• Willingness to mentor and develop junior analysts

• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills

• Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $100,400 - $192,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
