Mechanical Engineer - Rubber
Job Description: Mechanical Engineer - Rubber The Mechanical Engineer will support the development of gas valves, specifically focusing on Rubber Molds. This role involves Rubber Material Selection, formulation evaluation, and performance testing. Components like diaphragms and poppets will be a key focus, along with contributing to the mechanical design and engineering of gas valves. Responsibilities + Contribute to the design, testing, and validation of gas valves and their components. + Evaluate and recommend rubber compounds (Silicone rubber and flourosilicone) for use in gas valve components. + Work with suppliers to optimize material formulations based on gas compatibility, temperature resistance, and durability. + Conduct material testing (compression set, tensile strength, gas permeability, aging resistance). + Develop and execute failure analysis. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. + Experience with rubber mold design and testing. + Proficiency in mechanical engineering principles and documentation review. + Experience with design software, particularly Creo. + Familiarity with statistical analysis tools like Minitab. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on experience in a lab environment, including building fixtures, modifying appliances, and conducting tests. + Proficiency in CAD/CREO software for design tasks. + Strong reporting and documentation skills. + Effective communication skills for responding to customers, vendors, and internal teams. The role involves spending 45% of the time in the lab, 25% on CAD/CREO tasks, 15% on reporting and documentation, and 10-15% on responding to customer, vendor, and internal meetings.
