Mechanical Engineer-Summer Intern

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our sUAS program. This role offers hands-on experience in the design, testing, and optimization of drone structures, propulsion systems, and mechanical components. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop real-world solutions and gain exposure to the full product development lifecycle!
+ Apply mechanical engineering design principles to support the rapid design, development, testing, integration, and deployment of UAS systems, payloads, and ground support infrastructure in both indoor and outdoor environments.
+ Assist the production team with post-processing of additively manufactured parts.
+ Manage assigned intern projects from initiation to completion.
+ Support experienced engineers by engaging in CAD tutorials, performing basic CAD tasks, developing simple Excel spreadsheets, actively participating in engineering meetings and discussions, and assisting (under supervision) with UAS system testing and development.
+ Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient engineering and production workspace.

Required SkillsRequired Experience
+ Currently enrolled in undergraduate program with degree focus in mechanical engineering
+ Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials, and aerodynamics.
+ Must be within commuting distance of Huntsville, AL and be able to work onsite daily
+ Preference will be given to local candidates to support the client onsite, both during the summer and school-year periods as needed.
+ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
+ US Citizenship required. Must be able to successfully pass criminal background check prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Prior related experience
+ Hands-on experience with 3D printing, machining, or composite materials
+ Knowledge of drone systems or robotics
+ Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, etc)
