Job Description
We are seeking a Steam Turbine Generator Engineer to support a large Navy program affecting the next generation of Submarines. This critical role ensures the dominance of the seas and the safety of our sailors. The engineer will be responsible for planning, analysis, and reporting of turbine generators.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop plans and specifications, perform analysis, and provide reports on assigned tasks involving the design and construction of turbine generators for Columbia and Virginia class submarines.Resolve equipment and operational problems, including performing investigations or inspections at the manufacturer or test facility, design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others.Review and critique all proposed changes to existing designs.Ensure that all design specifications conform to the latest MILSPEC requirements as well as initial design requirements.Assist in troubleshooting operational issues as they relate to the overall system design.Essential SkillsExperience with turbine engine design, root cause analysis, and steam turbine engines.Proficiency in design, test, and operations of steam turbine engines.Expertise in vibration analysis and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) software.Additional Skills & QualificationsAn ACTIVE Secret clearance.Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Technical Background (Service with the Navy as an Ex-Nuc with Nuc Certification can replace the degree requirement).5-7 years of related experience in all facets and design of a steam turbine generator or other types of large rotating equipment.Experience providing engineering and technical support for large rotating equipment.Experience working in submarine or commercial power plants.Knowledge of vibration, balancing, and alignment techniques of rotating equipment.Experience in turbine vibration analysis, turbine supervisory instrumentation, and balancing.Troubleshooting steam turbines and equipment.Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Analysis.Work Environment
Work will be hybrid, requiring 3 days a week onsite at WNY with Navy discretion. There is a travel requirement of 10% to Sunnyvale, CA, Philadelphia, PA, and/or Groton, CT. You will be working in a team environment of mostly ex-Navy veterans and retirees who understand the challenges of transitioning and care for each other, whether they served or not.
