Visit arcfield.com for more details. Responsibilities We are looking for a spacecraft mechanical engineering intern to join the Orion Space team for a 10-week long internship in the summer of 2025. Orion Space Solutions (OSS), a subsidiary of Arcfield corporation, is a leader in the development small satellites, scientific payloads, instruments, and software packages. The ideal candidate will have entry-level knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and be currently enrolled in a relevant engineering undergraduate or graduate degree program. This internship will be full-time, 40 hours per week, and in person at the OSS main facilities located in Louisville Colorado. Interns will gain practical, hands-on, experience, working closely with engineering professionals from a wide variety of disciplines to develop the next generation of satellite technologies. Interns will work closely with the mechanical engineering team and a designated mentor. In addition, interns will have the opportunity to shadow several important sub-disciplines, including design, spacecraft architecture, thermal analysis, and structural analysis. As an intern, your responsibilities will include: Assist the mechanical engineering team with accomplishing tasks related to the design and development of new spacecraft technologies CAD Design Laboratory work Vibration testing, thermal vacuum testing, and sub-system assembly Thermal analysis Thermal Desktop analysis Creating structural Finite Element Models (FEM) using FEMAP General engineering analysis Generating documentation & presenting designs/results Participating in technical reviews Benefits Of This Internship Practical experience in professional aerospace engineering Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with experienced professionals Opportunity to participate in the design and development of spacecraft Competitive Pay Qualifications Requirements Enrolled in an engineering undergraduate or graduate degree program Entry-level experience in mechanical engineering Dynamics, mechanics, and thermal Familiarity with CAD systems Familiar with the principles of design Familiar with basic engineering mathematical analysis Excellent verbal and written communication skills Equal Pay Act This is the projected compensation range for this position.
