Mechanical Engineering Manager
Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Manager Job Description We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to manage and define measurable best practices and design standards for hardware. The successful candidate will manage cost accounts, technical and schedule objectives for both “level of effort” support as well as defined projects. This role involves interfacing with product development teams, Program Management, Quality Engineering, and Operations to achieve objectives. The candidate will support proposal activity with timely and accurate estimates and manage continuous improvement efforts to optimize for yield and cost improvement to meet production objectives. Responsibilities + Manage and define measurable best practices and design standards for hardware. + Manage cost accounts, technical and schedule objectives for both 'level of effort' support and defined projects. + Interface with product development teams, Program Management, Quality Engineering, and Operations to achieve objectives. + Support proposal activity with timely and accurate estimates. + Manage continuous improvement efforts to optimize for yield and cost improvement to meet production objectives. + Integrate design topologies driven by multi-physics performance dependencies in aerodynamic, thermodynamic, structural dynamic, electrical systems, material science, and design optimization for mechanical assemblies subjected to severe environments. + Provide technical direction and coaching to staff and foster an environment of creative employee engagement. + Lead the development of new ideas, products, processes, and techniques. + Facilitate complex projects within boundaries of people, quality, time, and value based on technical review of complex design concepts by technical staff. + Effectively communicate with and engage all levels of the organization verbally, in writing, and through presentations. Essential Skills + Proficiency in Solidworks. + Experience in engineering management and project engineering. + Experience in aerospace. + Experience in mechanical design focused on designing large-scale assemblies and components for Operational Simulators and Maintenance Training Devices. + Strong communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills. + Comfortable interacting with Executive Leadership, Program Management, customer representatives, and other stakeholders. + US citizenship with capability of receiving a secret level security clearance. + Experience with Design, Mechanical engineering, GD&T, Mechanical design, and New product development. Additional Skills & Qualifications + B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience. + Proven experience leading a team of multidisciplinary engineers. + Knowledgeable in military (or other regulated) production environments and quality systems. + Ability to manage projects, develop schedules and project plans, negotiate priorities, and secure funding for initiatives. + Engage with Operations personnel in Lean and continuous improvement activities. + Assertive personality with a strong bias for action and results-orientation. + Ability to tackle tough problems with firm deadlines.
