Actalent is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team in Sturtevant, WI. Role Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Manager will oversee a team of 3-5 engineers with varying levels of experience and will be responsible for all mechanical design aspects of projects, from concept development through to final delivery and installation. This role requires direct interaction with customers (both internal and external), effective leadership, and responsibility for meeting project budgets, timelines, and deliverables. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in machine design, an ability to manage resources effectively, and a passion for mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
Machine Design and Development (40%)
Oversee all aspects of machine design from conception to completion, ensuring designs are optimized for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and other engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.Drive design innovation and improvement, considering emerging technologies and customer feedback.Team Leadership and Development (20%)
Lead a team of 3-5 mechanical engineers with varying experience levels, providing mentorship and guidance.Ensure the team meets performance goals and project deliverables.Mentor direct reports to improve both technical and communication skills.Client and Stakeholder Management (10%)
Serve as a point of contact with customers, managing relationships from the quoting stage through to final delivery and installation.Communicate design concepts, progress, and any changes to clients clearly and professionally.Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded, addressing concerns and changes in a timely manner.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (internal), including hydraulic, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure integrated solutions for complex projects.Project Budgeting and Resource Management (15%)
Maintain and meet mechanical budgets for all projects, managing both material costs and design hours effectively.Approve mechanical budgets for hours and material during the quoting phase.Ensure the team stays on track with time and resource allocation to meet project deadlines.Vendor Management and Technology Integration (15%)
Manage relationships with external vendors, attaining quotes for machines and fabricated parts.Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in the hydraulic, off-road, and aerospace sectors and assess their potential application to projects.QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.Experience:
At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design. Leadership role in a project-based environment is a plus but not required.Proficiency:
SolidWorks Mechanical (required) and SolidWorks Electrical (nice to have, can be trained).Knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and custom machine design.Budget Management:
Experience managing project budgets, both material and labor, to meet deadlines and financial goals.Communication Skills:
Ability to manage both internal team and external customer relationships effectively.Hydraulics:
Familiarity with hydraulic systems and integration is highly desirable.Team Environment:
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.Work EnvironmentLocated in Sturtevant, WI. This role is 90% in-house with 10% occasional travel for on-site visits during installations or customer interactions.

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $140000.00
