Job Description:
Mechanical Engineering Manager positions offered by Jabil Inc. (Austin, TX). Manage the direction of design and development activities to improve, modify or design new equipment products and processes. Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis. Select, develop, train, and supervise staff. Establish individual goals and training plans. Develop, determine and implement policies, procedures and programs. Analyze new components and development tools and provide guidance on their use. Analyze technology trends, human resources needs, and market demand to plan projects. Determine engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness. Select correct design concept and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement of existing ones. Design and develop new components or redesign existing components to improve company products. Determine and establish specifications through engineering calculations and layouts. Coach and mentor Mechanical Design Engineering staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience in the position offered or 4 years of experience performing mechanical engineering in a manufacturing environment. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields and 4 years of experience as stated, employer will accept 6 years of experience as stated. Also requires 4 years of experience: manufacturing sheet metal stamping and plastics injection molding; and managing staff and projects in a global manufacturing team across multiple work locations. Requires 2 years of experience: sourcing supply chain, supplier and materials for Data Center Infrastructure (DCI) systems including 42U Racks, Packaging, Power Cords, Ethernet cables, SFP&QSFP transceivers, and PDUs; providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback for customer products in both Cloud and DCI products and systems; managing the quotes process including BOM Conditioning, design reviews at the part and sub-assembly levels, and Bill of Material (BOM) updates with component recommendations; developing or improving the assembly and manufacturing processes on-site for DCI systems including design of Fixtures and Tooling; and developing or improving the assembly sequences on-site for DCI products and systems. Approximately 20% domestic travel required. Position reports Austin, TX office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office. Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
