Job Summary:

Support the Crane Aerospace leadership team in the definition and execution of business initiatives.  Accountable for the overall technical success of product line proposals, product development programs, investigations, and/or other business initiatives assigned to the group.  Develop, manage and maintain product design processes, guidelines and criteria.  Provide effective leadership of engineering group personnel and cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, business development, etc.), facilitating achievement of overall assignment objectives.  Develop, maintain and execute technology roadmaps.  Facilitate good program management skills on all department activities.  Define and maintain control of department, project and product costs and schedules.  Satisfy all department, project, and customer requirements including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth.   

Essential Functions:

Leadership/Management Responsibilities:

Support the development and approval of project cost estimates and schedules.  Ensure teams and personnel meet program requirements through mentoring and appropriate staffing.Maintain technical liai­son with customers, suppliers, contractors and other functional groups through effective teamwork and communication.Support the definition and management of technical and program requirements, including the generation and flow-down of subsystem specifications and requirements.Ensure accurate program accounting is achieved through effective utilization of project records and data management.Define and manage engineering design processes, leading process definition and improvement efforts for the group.  Ensure all group engineering activities adhere to defined processes and principles.Ensure compliance with all company, department and regulatory procedures and requirements, including Export Compliance and ITAR.Provide effective leadership and management for direct reports and consulting engineering personnel located at other locations/facilities (including international locations).Define, manage, communicate and/or implement engineering group personnel development plans and performance appraisals.Ensure required engineering capabilities and skill-sets are available and fulfill department needs.Define, manage and execute a technology roadmap, ensuring that new / improved technologies and innovative solutions are available to meet future demands.   Assist in the preparation and management of fiscal year operating budgets and company metrics.

Engineering Responsibilities:

Assume complete technical engineering leadership for all products assigned to the group and is a direct liaison working in unison with representatives of Business Development and Operations to plan and effectively exe­cute pro­grams. Provide engineering oversight and approval for product designs ensuring that all design and analysis activities are complete, accurate, and meet program requirements.  Responsibilities include the following categories:

Review and approve technical documentation necessary to satisfy customer and program requirements, including proposals, procedures, reports, correspondence, product draw­ings, drawing release packages, drawing revisions and other design documentation.Support the Material Review Board (MRB) and/or sustaining engineering in the assessment and disposition of non-conforming hardware and material.Provide direction and support to Sustaining and Product Support Engineering, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated back into related design processes and criteria.

Education and Skill Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering10+ years of related experienceProven design project leadership ability, including the demonstrated ability to form and lead cross functional teams.

Travel:

Occasional travel to customer and supplier facilities for technical interchange meetings, design reviews, product support, and technical seminars.  Passport required.

This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Top Benefits:

Salary range: $149,136.00 to $181.792.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
