The Honeywell Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Manufacturing and Design Engineering organization designs and manufactures specialized Coil Wound Heat Exchangers and other natural gas liquefaction equipment. The equipment is designed by our engineering teams and fabricated at our manufacturing facility in Port Manatee, FL, or other domestic and international 3rd party facilities. Our customers use this equipment to liquefy extracted natural gas, massively improving its transportability as an energy source to end users around the world.
This is a leadership position for a Mechanical Engineering Manager within the MDE organization based in our Honeywell LNG Headquarters located in Allentown, PA. This position will lead a team of mechanical engineers in the LNG Manufacturing and Design Engineering (MDE) organization. The engineers on the team are located in Allentown and in the Honeywell LNG Port Manatee manufacturing facility.
As the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable for the LNG Mechanical Engineering team’s staffing, skills, tools, and performance to ensure the team’s design deliverables meet all organizational safety, technical, and commercial goals. The candidate will be responsible for supporting a complex and dynamic LNG equipment business, working across disciplines to deliver on-time and accurate engineering support to internal and external customers. The candidate will be responsible for developing and driving the Mechanical Engineering team’s strategies, including continued winning and execution of LNG Coil Wound Heat Exchanger projects, expansion of the team’s capabilities to new pressure vessel and heat exchanger applications, and technical support of other LNG functions including Aftermarket vessel repairs, supply chain management, Technology development, and equipment manufacturing.
The position requires occasional domestic and international travel.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Develop team-specific safety requirements and support overall LNG Business safety targets.
•Define team structure and organization, including assignment of project leads, subject matter experts, mentors, trainers, and checkers/approvers.
•Ensure appropriate staffing levels, skills, and experience to meet LNG Business needs based on work forecast.
•Establish and report out team goals, KPIs, and individual goals, coordinating short-term and long-term organizational needs with individual professional development.
•Ensure on-time, on-budget, and accurate execution of team deliverables following established procedures, validated technical methods, legal/regulatory/industrial/customer requirements, and sound engineering judgement.
•Support bid teams to develop technical scope of supply, including technical risk statement creation with Technology Manager and hours and schedule estimates.
•Serve as customer liaison to manage and troubleshoot inquiries related to bids, projects, and Aftermarket activities.
•Ensure team standard templates and technical methods remain up-to-date with industry practice, current Codes and standards, and modern engineering approach.
•Assign resources to complete tasks in all team demand lanes, including bid development, project execution, engineering calculations, manufacturing methods, Technology programs, supply chain technical management, and international and domestic field trips.
•Mentor and coach team members to balance workload, manage talent, and refresh individual development/improvement plans.
•Maintain, develop, and identify new engineering software and hardware tools required to meet LNG Business needs.
•Manage root cause analyses and change management associated with engineering requirements, design deliverables, and equipment manufacturing.
•Ensure technical risk plan and mitigations are reviewed and understood by team, and required mitigation actions are executed as approved by the Technology Manager and Director.
•Follow MDE Quality Management System requirements and work processes, including enforcement of team compliance and participation in audits.
•Support definition, prioritization, and resourcing of Continued Improvement, Product, and other LNG and MDE internal development initiatives.
•Expand team capabilities to execute new technical scope and project strategies.

MUST HAVE:
•BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
•Minimum of 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar design work
•Demonstrated leadership capabilities as either an organizational manager or individual contributor
•Experience in pressure vessel, piping, or similar heavy industry manufacturing processes
•Familiarity with mechanical engineering design software, e.g., Solidworks, ANSYS
•Strong knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code, ASTM, AWS welding, and other international standards
WE VALUE:
•Field experience in oil/gas/energy operating facilities, incl. equipment maintenance and repair
•Proficiency in pressure vessel and piping design tools, e.g., COMPRESS, PVElite, AutoPIPE
•Proficiency in MathCad and Microsoft Office Tools
•Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS
•Experience with CAD applications such as such SolidWorks or Microstation
