Essential responsibilities
Assignments may include set up and run data acquisition equipment for tests, carry out experiments, assemble prototype parts and systems, use machine shop tools to make parts/fixtures, document test results, troubleshoot designs, and maintain a tidy mechanical lab.
Mechanical fabrication of prototype parts or fabrication of testing platforms.Perform basic trouble shooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolutionConduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required to draw conclusionsPerform software and hardware evaluation and implement plans using knowledge of product, system operation, engineering tools, and interactive software tools as requiredUtilize technical communications throughout the new product cycle to improve externally sourced components in terms of system performance, reliability, functionality, and serviceabilityProvide evaluation, constructive feedback and leadership in the development of internal and external engineering, manufacturing, or service documentationProvide strong individual contributions in the context of achieving team goalsGeneral direction is given in the execution of job related activitiesComply with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, quality, and compliance policiesQualifications
Must be a full-time student, as defined by your school, pursuing a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Biomedical Engineering or similar field3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week during spring/fall semesters or 40 hours/week during summer monthsMust be able to work at Waukesha, WI facility GE is an equal opportunity employer.
