Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.  Around the globe, Arup’s mechanical engineers bring specialist expertise to solutions for buildings, transport infrastructure and energy, water and waste utilities.  Our comprehensive services to the energy, water and resources sectors include development of solutions for utilities and infrastructure assets, industrial processes and manufacturing systems, renewable energy and storage and sustainable mechanical system design. We are trusted to bring inventive solutions to complex technical challenges: from exemplar projects such as Green Hydrogen Production facilities.

'My name is Robyn and I am a Mechanical Engineer in Energy Water and Resources in Leeds. I joined Arup 5 years ago as I was impressed with the company’s commitments to delivering sustainable design that benefits our communities. Being born and bred in West Yorkshire I was particularly interested in the work Arup had done for Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme that protects our city centre.

My focus is the water sector which includes both clean and wastewater treatment, flood alleviation and even hydropower projects. The work I am most proud of is when I have worked with water companies to find the root cause behind wastewater spills and design ways to reduce these pollution events.

The best part of working at Arup is the breadth of skills and disciplines our colleagues have in science and engineering. Our projects truly are multi-disciplinary, and no project is ever really the same as the ones before!'
