Mechanical Estimator
Job Title: Mechanical EstimatorJob Description The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for accurately calculating project costs for design-build and plan and spec mechanical systems in construction, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems. This role will involve reviewing project documentation, gathering necessary data, and working closely with our divisional estimators, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate bids. Responsibilities + Analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements. + Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing. + Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services to ensure accurate pricing. + Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to prepare competitive bids. + Evaluate and assess the risks associated with project budgets and schedules. + Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather additional project information. + Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure optimal pricing and contract terms. + Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines based on the estimates provided. + Track and manage bid documents, change orders, and addendums throughout the bidding process. + Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market trends, costs, and new technologies in mechanical systems. Essential Skills + 3 years of estimating experience. + Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) and construction methodologies. + Well-versed in design-build mechanical systems. + Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and technical specifications. + Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., FastDUCT, CHVAC Load Calculation software) and Microsoft Office Suite. + Mechanical Engineering degree OR field experience required. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge of hydronics and construction estimation. + Experience in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Work Environment The work environment is in-office with a growing and tenured team. The VP of estimating has been with the company for over 10 years and plans to retire here. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $38.46 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
