Mechanical Helper
**Job Title: Mechanical Helper** **Job Description** We are seeking three Mechanical Helpers to join our team immediately in preparation for the upcoming outage season. As a Mechanical Helper, you will assist in servicing pumps and valves, requiring you to lift up to 75lbs and travel extensively to client sites. **Responsibilities** + Lift up to 75lbs and travel with another employee to client sites to service pumps and valves. + Use basic hand and air tools such as impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, and torches. + Work in power plants, including on graded floors with visibility to the bottom, requiring no fear of heights. + Meet an internal employee daily and ride with them in a company truck to the client site. + Assist in disassembling pumps and valves and performing maintenance. + Travel heavily during spring and fall outage seasons (March-May and August-October), typically on 4-5 day trips each week, returning home on weekends. + Stay in company-paid hotels with a per diem provided during travel. + Receive 10% premium pay when working in power plants while on the road once hired full-time. + Assist other technicians and mechanics with shop or field work as needed. + Maintain a clean and presentable appearance. + Perform various jobs around the shop, including janitorial functions. + Maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees. **Essential Skills** + Good mechanical aptitude. + No fear of heights. + Motivation to work and grow within a strong company. + Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs. + Ability to travel to surrounding states (WV, OH, IN). **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + OSHA 10 certification preferred. + Experience servicing pumps and valves preferred. + Military Veteran, especially Navy, in a heavy mechanical role is a plus. + Ability to properly identify and use basic hand and air tools. + Ability to demonstrate repeatable basic skills as trained. + Ability to tear down and clean valves and pumps with supervision. + Skills to operate sand blasters, lapping machines, heating cutting torches, and valve test stands. + Skills to properly lap and polish valve seating surfaces. + Ability to use correct equipment terminology and lingo as required. **Why Work Here?** Join a rapidly growing company with significant upward mobility. Hours can be flexible, with standard days from 7AM-3:30PM and potential 12-hour days during outages. Be prepared for occasional on-call weekends. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, Kentucky. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
