Mechanical Project Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical Project EngineerJob Description We are seeking a motivated and talented Mechanical Project Engineer with 3 to 7 years of industrial experience in the design and customer support of industrial or chemical equipment. The role involves project management, design, and application of equipment for lubricant systems. The successful candidate will help us expand our technical capabilities to service our customers. Responsibilities + Design and troubleshoot lubricant/hydraulic fluid contamination control systems. + Organize and control project scope, cost, and deadlines. + Review design, specifications, delivery dates, and scheduling changes, monitoring costs and recommending actions. + Generate and track commercial cost, timing, and impacts on deliverables. + Complete technical sizing, selection of supplier components, and prepare cost estimates to compare against the project budget. + Originate a bill of materials parts list, complete notes, and procedure for construction and testing. + Provide contractual and technical direction and engineering sizing and selection to suppliers. + Develop Operations, Maintenance, and Diagnostic manuals for lubricant filtration and Fluid Power systems. + Assemble and wire prototype systems in the shop/laboratory. + Evaluate technologies to be incorporated into commercial equipment (sensors, data acquisition). + Support sales groups and customers by providing timely technical problem-solving. + Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies for lube/hydraulic/air systems. + Oversee systems installations and other startup projects or assignments. + Act as the main point of contact on all projects assigned. + Write test and inspection procedures and facilitate tests to verify product performance. + Control project costs by approving expenditures and administering contract changes. Essential Skills + BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related degree. + 3 to 7 years of experience in industrial machine or chemical processing design. + Experience in creating Schematics (Hydraulic/Mechanical) P&ID, Layouts and Drawings. + Track record with instrumenting equipment with sensors and developing technologies. + Familiarity with data analysis techniques. + Analytical problem-solving skills. + Familiarity with electric control panel design and reading electrical drawings. + Proficiency with common office and CAD software applications. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Organizational and planning skills for short and long-term projects. + Ability to handle multiple projects using independent judgment. + Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people. + Attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop new skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Solidworks (3D designs). + Hands-on experience with prototyping. + Experience in a lab or R&D setting. + Experience with sensors, instrumentation, hydraulics, and fluids. + Knowledge of lubrication filtration is a plus. + Familiarity with FEA analysis, sensor design, and fluid dynamics. + APEX certification is a plus. Work Environment This role requires working onsite 5 days a week in an R&D environment.
