Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer
Job Description

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will focus on brainstorming and concepting rather than creating detailed machine-level drawings for specific site projects. You will work primarily with 3D design software, such as Configura, to design conveyors and assembly drawings. Your role involves experimenting with and understanding the integration of equipment, ensuring new machines connect seamlessly with existing machinery. You will simulate ideas in CAD before handing off to a drafter for final detailing, working with chutes, roller conveyors, and diverts.

ResponsibilitiesDesign material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and other machinery.Add capacity to the site, retrofit areas for new equipment, and rearrange existing equipment within the facility.Figure out site layouts and create scopes of work for projects.Write RFPs and work with vendors for site selection.Work on engineering design and hand off to execution.Travel up to 25% for site visits.Essential SkillsHands-on design experience in a manufacturing setting.Proficiency in 3D design software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks.Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing).5-7 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial designs.Project management skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding of upstream/downstream component changes within systems engineering.Experience in design engineering, automation, material handling, and conveyor systems.Ability to travel 25% of the time for site visits.Work Environment

You will report to the Industrial Design Manager. This is an 11-month contract with the potential for full-time employment or extension. You will work in the office 3-5 days per week when not traveling. One week of PTO is provided within the first year, with the option for unpaid time off. Six national holidays are observed. The role requires a flexible approach to work hours, with no weekend travel required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
