Mechanical Project Engineer
**Ultimate LLC has an immediate need for a Mechanical Project Engineer for a direct hire position in the Baltimore area. Salary is $75k-$100k.** **MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER** The Project Engineer will have the flexibility to assist with management of multiple projects in Baltimore, MD working directly with the Operations Manager. There will be the opportunity to work in our satellite office from time to time. The Project Engineer will work to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on-budget, within schedule and in compliance with the company’s standards and to the customer’s satisfaction. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES** + Daily coordination with the Operations Manager (OM) to support current and upcoming projects in the field. + Assist with project buy-out for supplied materials, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards. + Expedite the material deliveries of subcontractors and suppliers in accordance with the project schedule and coordinate with the project team. + Ensure project specifications are defined and adhered to. Seek clarification through the RFI process and ensure drawings are up-to-date. + Manage specific budgets on a project-by-project basis within the company cost control system. + Accumulate all necessary data for monthly owner and subcontractor applications for payment. + Assist with pre-construction and progress meetings with clients and subcontractors, as appropriate. + Assist with estimating new opportunities, to include labor production, material take offs and quotes, and subcontractor pricing. + Maintain and complete a current record of submittals (when required), approvals and re-submittals. + Other duties, as assigned. **PROJECTS** + Establish a solid working relationship with each client that is assigned, that is founded on communication and understanding. + Communicate the work plan, any issues, and progress to the client within the time frame that fits their needs (daily, weekly, etc.). + Communicate daily (or more often as needed) with on-site supervision to discuss the plan, needs, and progress of each job task and project. + Work with site supervision to develop and execute a construction plan for assigned projects, taking into account material and resource requirements, and working with the operations team to schedule those tasks accordingly. + Visit the project sites to understand each client’s business, facility layout, and project objectives. + Communicate all plans, progress, and issues to the PM and OM as they occur. **ESTIMATING** + Understand and execute the company's estimating procedure. + Accurately take off material quantities and solicit vendor quotes. + Accurately identify subcontractor scopes and solicit vendor quotes. + Estimate manpower, material costs, subcontractor costs, and equipment costs for each estimate assigned. + Craft proposal letters to clients, for specific estimates, including clarifications and exclusions. + Review all estimates with the PM and/or OM. **ENGINEERING** + Understand the mechanical construction environment, hazards, and pitfalls. + Understand the production capability for each assigned client. + Understand the installation techniques for rotating equipment. + Understand the installation techniques for piping, supports, and processes. **EXPECTATIONS** + Check in with assigned job site foremen daily (either over the phone, or in person). + Check in with the Operations Manager daily (either over the phone or in person). + Visit each job site weekly, at a minimum, or as required based on project needs. + Photograph job progress (where allowed) + Record subcontractor progress (where applicable) + Submit salary timesheet to OM for review and approval, weekly. + Submit mileage reimbursement and expense reimbursement (as applicable). + Turn in delivery tickets, invoices, and any other paperwork to the Baltimore Office. **CORE COMPETENCIES** + Drive – Self starter with the willingness to get involved in all aspects of a project, including troubleshooting and problem solving on-site. + Accountability – Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of his or her work. + Communication – Communicates well both verbally and in writing. + Teamwork – Builds good relationships and rapport with customers, peers, supervisors, managers, and field employees throughout the organization. + Consistency – Consistently follows documented procedures and suggests changes / updates when appropriate. + Scheduling and estimating experience are a plus. + Effective written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills. **EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS** + B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process). + 2-5 Years previous experience in millwrighting, preferably in an industrial environment. + Familiarity with ASME codes & standards + Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW and FCAW welding processes + Flexibility to work in both clean (food-grade) and dirty (recycling facilities) environments. + Reliable transportation with active driver’s license + US Citizen and/or Green Card Verified + Flexibility to travel in the Baltimore Metro Area (Aberdeen, MD to Washington, DC) + Willing to work at least 40 hours per week (Mon – Thu on a 4-10’s schedule or Mon- Fri on a 5-8s schedule), with the flexibility to work overtime as required. Some night shift may be required, which is dependent on client needs. + Flexibility to work outside of your trade. **ABOUT Our Client** They are a heavy industrial mechanical contractor that focuses on the installation, service, and maintenance of power and process systems in the manufacturing and power generation market. MAIC is based in Baltimore, MD with a satellite office in Hagerstown, MD. Client has a focus on the process industrial market with our primary focus being the installation of equipment, piping, and structural steel for a core group of clients that demand quality, safety and reliability. With that in mind, we work in a wide range of environments from Food Grade Manufacturing to Chemical Processing and Power Plants.
